The sustainable building, constructed using timber elements, combines production and administration and strengthens Switzerland as a production location. The project was completed within the specified time frame from March 2023 to June 2024.
As befits an opening ceremony, the traditional cutting of the ribbon was of course a must. With great joy and to the applause of all those present, the ribbon was cut, symbolizing the start of a new chapter in our company's history.
Less than 100 meters from the current location, a building is being constructed that will bring together production facilities and office space under one roof.
“The new TROX HESCO building stands for a modern working environment and sustainable development. We want to promote our unique production site in Rüti and continue to stand out with Swiss quality in the future,” says Dennis Hansen.
The new production hall with integrated office space is a low-carbon timber frame construction.
A glimpse into the new warehouse is delightful
1´932 storage spaces covering 780 m² are waiting to be filled with innovative products. The state-of-the-art high-bay storage system is operated by an efficient narrow-aisle forklift. Thanks to fully digitalized warehouse management, you never lose track of anything.
Innovative logistics solutions
Lift systems are installed directly in the production hall, transporting the required materials directly to the production site at the touch of a button. This ensures that everything is in the right place at the right time.
Modern office space
The office area is located on the third floor. Particularly striking are the wooden TROX BOXes, which divide the 750 m² open-plan office into smaller, more clearly arranged areas and create a pleasant working atmosphere.
TROX HESCO Managing Director Dennis Hansen opened the groundbreaking ceremony with a few words about the project. He expressed his gratitude to everyone involved. After the planning was put on hold in 2019 due to an internal change, today’s groundbreaking marks an even greater milestone. “The building will not only serve as a workplace for our 120 employees, but also as a showcase for the TROX Group and TROX HESCO,” said Hansen.
Anton Strüby, Managing Director of Strüby Unternehmungen, also regards the new building as a prestige project and model example. As the general contractor, he thanked everyone for their trust and expressed his enthusiasm for an exciting project.
Udo Jung, CEO of TROX SE, addressed the special nature of the production site: “At the bank, you first get a few surprised looks when you say you want to build a production hall in Switzerland.” But the investment in Switzerland is no coincidence. In recent years, the TROX Group has invested in new buildings across Europe; Norway, Germany, and the Czech Republic are among them. The fact that even more will be “Swiss Made” in the future underlines the importance of high quality in our industry.
Representing the municipality of Rüti, we were pleased to welcome President Yvonne Bürgin and Municipal Clerk Thomas Ziltener. “Having an internationally successful company in Rüti is a great asset for the municipality,” said Bürgin. The TROX HESCO new building, with its sustainable and environmentally friendly construction, fits perfectly with the energy and climate policy of the Energy City Rüti.
From a simple locksmith’s workshop to an internationally connected company – we have remained loyal to our location.
The long and eventful history of TROX HESCO Schweiz AG begins on October 19, 1863. Trained locksmith Rudolf Hess signs the contract, thereby acquiring the water rights and three plots of land at Pilgersteg. In the newly built locksmith’s workshop, production of building fittings begins.
In the vacated factory building of the former spinning and weaving mill, Hess installs machines for stamping, pressing, and grinding iron. The Pilgersteg site benefited from its proximity to the Jona, the local stream. Water power was harnessed using a new turbine system.
During the cold winter, a fire breaks out in the main building. Thanks to a pump system in the old turbine house, it can be extinguished before the entire building burns down.
With the construction of a new office building, the machinery park can be expanded.
To meet the growing energy demand, the company plans its own power plant—an ambitious project. In addition to the machine house, a dam also needs to be built. This presents financial challenges. Just one year later, the new landmark goes into operation with an output of around 330 kW.
The beginning of ventilation accessory production cannot be precisely dated, but it took place before the company was transformed into a limited partnership in January 1951. Accordingly, the machinery was modernized in the following years.
More than 30 different air outlets in nearly 400 sizes contribute significantly to the strong increase in export sales.
HESCO Pilgersteg AG Rüti is taken over by Gebrüder Trox SE and renamed TROX HESCO Schweiz AG.
Even today, we see the potential in the Rüti production site and are investing in a new office and production building.
