Das Herzstück des Internationalen Centers Brandschutztechnik ist ein Brandprüfofen mit den Abmessungen von 4 x 5 x 5 m. Das ist groß genug, um selbst die riesigen Tunnelklappen zu testen, die für die Entrauchung von unterirdischen Verkehrsanlagen eingesetzt werden.
In dem modernsten brandtechnischen Labor Europas führt TROX Brandversuche vor allem zur brandschutztechnischen Klassifizierung von Bauprodukten für Lüftungs- und Klimaanlagen nach nationalen und internationalen Normen durch.
Daneben können auch wissenschaftliche Versuche außerhalb von Normvorgaben zu speziellen Fragestellungen im Brandschutz durchgeführt werden. Die technischen Einrichtungen im ICB eignen sich zudem für gutachterliche Untersuchungen und Stellungnahmen.
